    Description

From an estate I am currently liquidating.  Vintage 1930's Kalamazoo Archtop A-Style Mandolin In Case.  I will be the first to say I do not know much about Mandolins.  Let the Photos Tell the Story.  I tried to take Photos of all the important parts.  Mandolin shows age appropriate wear. One photo shows wear on the lacquerer, the other side has the similar wear.  Beautiful Piece Overall. Case is in Used Condition, still functional (see Photos).  The strings are new and not tight.  This was stored with broken strings which is probably lucky.  The piece seems straight to me, no damage to the neck.  Slight line in the top but I don't think it is a crack.
This is some helpful info from another ebayer who know a bit more about mandolins.  :
The pickguard which is made from celluloid appears to be starting to degrade - as does some of the binding.  Anybody buying the mandolin ought to remove the pickguard and fabricate a copy- I have done this on an old 1930s Gibson mandolin I bought on eBay. Your mandolin is from 1939 at the earliest as it has Phillips screws holding on the tuners and guardplate- Gibson began using Phillips screws in 1939. The headstock top edge is the "open book" style that Gibson started using in about 1939 or 1940.
