Description
TONITA / JUAN ROYBAL BLACKWARE JAR. CIRCA 1930'S. SAN ILDEFONSO. FROM PRIVATE COLLECTION. VERY RARE AND BEAUTIFUL POT. PURCHASED IN 1985 WHEN WE OWNED AN AMERICAN INDIAN ART GALLERY. HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE SIGNED TONITA AND JUAN ROYBAL. MEASURES 7" X 9". HAVE HAD IT EXAMINED IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A PROFESSIONAL EVALUATION FOR FULL DISCLOSURE. THE POT IS CIRCA 1930'S AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED WELL. EXAMINER FELT THAT THINGS WOULD GO UNNOTICED AT AUCTION, BUT I FULLY DISCLOSE EVERYTHING. THIS IS A WELL MAINTAINED BLACKWARE JAR. THERE ARE WATER DAMAGE SPOTS ON THE LOWER HALF AND SOME PARTS OF THE NECK. NOT GENERALLY NOTICABLE WHEN DISPLAYING, BUT FOR FULL DISCLOSURE. I HAVE TAKEN EXCELLENT PICTURES WHICH ACTUALLY DEFINE THESE THINGS BECAUSE OF THE LIGHTING MORE THAN YOU WOULD ACTUALLY SEE THEM WHEN HOLDING OR LOOKING AT THE POT. THERE ARE ALSO TWO GREY/WHITE AREAS (PICTURED) ON ONE SIDE AROUND THE SHOULDER WHERE HE DETERMINED IT WAS PROBABLY OVERFIRED AND HAD SOMETHING TOUCHING IT DURING THE FIRING (EXPLANATION I GOT). ALL IS THE NATURE OF A POT FROM THE 1930'S THAT IS REALLY A BEAUTIFUL AND HIGHLY COLLECTION POT. THERE IS ALSO A DOT SIZE TINY CHIP ON THE SIDE OF THE POT. THIS IS EXACTLY HOW WE PURCHASED THE POT IN 1985. IT IS SIGNED ON THE BOTTOM..TONITA AND JUAN. TONITA / JUAN POTTERY IS HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE AND VERY RARE THESE DAYS. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL PIECE! PROVENANCE WE HAVE ON THE JAR READS CIRCA 1920'S. INFORMATION FROM KNOWLEDGABLE EBAYER STATES THAT DUAL SIGNATURES ARE ACTUALLY 1930'S, SO I HAVE REFLECTED THE CHANGE IN THE LISTING. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL AND HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE BLACKWARE JAR. SHIPPING INCLUDES FULL INSURANCE IN TRANSPORT. PLEASE EXAMINE THE PHOTOS FOR ADDITIONAL DETAIL AND CONDITION. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING.
