Description
Finger Lakes Numismatics - Rare Coins And CurrencyA group of 23 weights with sycee, rectangular, and round shapes that appear to be a number of different weight standards, with differing calligraphic styles. All are approximate multiples or fractions of Tael. Four pieces have loops attached. The two largest weights are approximately 20 Tael, followed by a group of 10 and 9.5 Tael (6), 5 Tael (5), 4 Tael (4), 3 Tael (4), and 2 Tael (2). Two pieces are clearly Japanese (Edo Era), with one 10 Tael engraved in a manner very similar to the example appearing in the
Catalogue for the Japanese Coin Collection (pre-Meiji) at the British Museum
(item #977).
