Biography 04/09/09: Portrait of the British musical and cultural icon who has sold 67 million albums worldwide and produced over a dozen hits in a career that has spanned more than 25 years. From the time he and a friend formed a high school band and became the duo "Wham!," Michael's star has ascended. A meteoric solo career followed on the heels of his band days as audiences fell in love with his distinctive vocals and soulful deliveries. But his temperamental personality has led to professional feuds with record executives and fellow artists, and a strong appetite for drugs, alcohol, and sexual encounters has resulted in multiple scrapes with the law.
George Michael at the Palais Garnier Paris 2012: This stunning 2014 documentary is an exemplary record of George Michael's legacy, profiling his later career following his departure from Sony. A time when, given a free rein, he forged more sophisticated compositions from jazz to big band to large orchestral accompaniments. This concert took place in 2012 at the exquisite Paris Opera House - the Palais Garnier. George Michael was the first popular artist to have been honoured by the House to use that world renowned stage, which is normally reserved for ballet, dance or opera. The documentary beautifully intersperses between the concert (in colour) and behind the scenes rehearsals (in monochrome). It is truly a visual feast. In the words of Jean Paul Gaultier: "I never saw an audience like that. Because in the Opera the audience is generally very snobbish, very Parisian. But once he started, the audience was in hysteria, singing, clapping. I have never seen that in Paris before. It was truly unique. His voice was marvellous. It was fantastic and it was also for a cause. Thank you George. We love you."

George Michael Memoriam Video Archives 2017 Volume IX
The 59th Annual Grammy Awards 02/12/17: Adele returned to the Grammy stage to delivered an emotionally fraught tribute to George’s passing with a a stunning cover of “Fastlove” Backed by a full orchestra, Adele's performance got off to a rocky start as the singer stopped a quarter of the way into the “Older” track, swore, apologized and began again. On her second go, Adele delivered "Fastlove" with stunning command, building to a chilling belt over a striking new arrangement that featured an ominous piano melody and a growing swell of strings. It was a haunting rendition of the song - however still appearing slightly thrown. The Performance drew a standing ovation from the audience as Adele was pictured in tears after she finished.
The Brit Awards 2017 02/22/17: The 2017 BRIT Awards remembered George Michael’s legacy with a pair of tributes as the singer's Wham! bandmates saluted Michael before Coldplay’s Chris Martin performed his 1986 song "A Different Corner.” Michael's Wham! partner Andrew Ridgeley and the duo's backing singers Pepsi & Shirlie (real names Helen DeMacque and Shirlie Holliman) came onstage following the In Memoriam portion of the ceremony to eulogize the singer. "On Christmas Day 2016, the greatest singer-songwriter of his generation, an icon of his era, and my beloved friend, George Michael, was lost," Ridgeley said in his first non-social media comments following Michael's death."A supernova in a firmament of shining stars had been extinguished, and it felt like the sky had fallen in. It started out ordinarily enough: In 1975, we were two boys that happened to share a mutual sense of humor, a love of life-affirming music, the records and artists it gave birth to, and a shared sense that we understood it.”
Ridgeley, DeMacque and Holliman then recounted their early days together and personal memories of the late singer. "George's contribution to the great archive of contemporary music rests alongside the immortals," Ridgeley added. "His is a legacy of unquestionable brilliance and one that will continue to shine and resonate for generations to come.” Following the tribute, Coldplay's Chris Martin took the BRIT Awards stage to sing "A Different Corner." During the performance, the Brits' screen showed archival footage of Michael, with the singer admitting, "I never really wanted to be somebody else.” Following another Martin verse, the screen behind the Coldplay singer again projected Michael, who took over singing "A Different Corner." Through some immaculate timing, Martin and the archival Michael performance sang together for the remainder of the tribute. Martin previously remembered Michael with a rendition of "Last Christmas" following the singer's December 25th death

    without any subtitles and slightly better quality then the “full” “French Version” below that includes and extra 10 minutes but also includes subtitles. The film was well done. It featured comments from those who know him and love him and from those who don't like him at all. He charmingly tells a story of success, personal failure and finally personal success;
All the while gaining respect from those who may not like him. Lots of unseen Wham! footage.Great music. I think the film will surprise a people who think they know his story. He speaks in detail about his childhood, Wham!, confusion, Sony, insecurity, love loss, and the future. You'll find yourself saying--I had no idea. Funny, smart, Charming, sad and bittersweet. Thoroughly entertaining. Well done, George. I love this film because we could see George Michael as we never see Him, talking about himself quietly, with sometimes nostalgia, with fun too and with sincerity!!! It's a film for all His fans and for all people who love His songs!!!

George Michael : A Different Story (French Edition)
2005: Longer version of the documentary at 1 Hour 34 Minutes with French subtitles
Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou (25 June 1963 – 25 December 2016), known professionally as George Michael, was an English singer, songwriter, and record producer who rose to fame as a member of the music duo Wham! He is best known for his work in the 1980's and 1990's, including hit singles such as "Last Christmas" and "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", and albums such as Faith (1987) and Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (1990). George Michael sold more than 100 million records worldwide. His debut solo album, Faith, sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. Michael achieved seven number one singles in the UK and eight number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, including "Careless Whisper" and "Freedom! '90". He ranks among the best-selling British acts of all time, ranked by Billboard magazine as the 40th-most successful artist ever. George Michael won various music awards throughout his 30-year career, including three Brit Awards—he won Best British Male twice, four MTV Video Music Awards, four Ivor Novello Awards, three American Music Awards, and two Grammy Awards from eight nominations. George Michael, who came out as gay in 1998, was an active LGBT rights campaigner and HIV/AIDS charity fundraiser. In 2004, the Radio Academy named George Michael the most played artist on British radio during the period 1984–2004. The documentary A Different Story (released in 2005) covered his career and personal life. George Michael's first tour in 15 years, the worldwide 25 Live tour, spanned three tours over the course of three years (2006, 2007, and 2008). In the early hours of 25 December 2016, George Michael, aged 53, was found dead in bed at his Oxfordshire home.

George Michael You Have Been Loved 2016: Tribute to the greatest singer, songwriter and performer George Michael. You have been loved, George. n the first part documentary, from about 7:19 and a bit later, the presentation of the 90's by that presenter/journalist is typically US-centric GM-ignorant, with pretty much only the 1998 incident included.
Even with perfectly good intentions, it's frustrating sometimes to discover that lack of knowledge time and time again. In the rest of the (Western?) world George Michael's 90's will be remembered mainly (mostly?) as the decade that he released his two masterpiece albums, to great success. Even if not in the same level as Faith, and yes, even if unsuccessful in America itself.
Documentary includes many different interviews over the years but most notably his interview in 2007 about his upcoming Wembley Stadium concert preparations. In this interview he discusses his legendary performance at the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute concert. Some scenes from the backstage rehearsals of the Freddie Mercury tribute show with David Bowie looking on as he rehearsal and are EXTREMELY RARE  "Somebody to Love. Later in the program a live performance of"Freedom '90" at the 2007 Wembley concert in from of 75,000 fans.
Having said that still worthy of a view as some details are unearthed for the first time here 1 Hr 12 Mins (incomplete)

Last Days of George Michael 03/23/17: Channel 5 will be releasing a new documentary about his final days. The documentary will cover the star’s life as well as the events surrounding his last few days in the public eye before passing away. It will discuss the Freedom singer’s decision to remove himself from the limelight and become reclusive, his drug addiction and the potential he had for a comeback tour. While no names have been officially confirmed by Channel 5, it promises to be an emotional one as his "nearest and dearest" speak out.As well as this, a series of medical experts will also be lending their opinion. Music industry insiders will also be revealing what George was like behind the scenes. An investigation into the cause of the death was put in place, as rumours spread about his sudden and unanticipated death at the age of just 53. The official announcement that he died of "natural causes" was released earlier this month. And his family are now reportedly arranging his funeral to take place within the next few weeks, at which his Spice Girls pal Geri Horner will do a reading. *The Last Days of George Michael is on tonight at 9pm on Channel 5 50 Minutes 4 Seconds

George Michael / WHAM: Video Archives 2017 Volume XV (FREEDOM DOCUMENTARY Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, Mary J. Blige)
The most mysterious period of George Michael’s life was the final one, the years he spent in his mansion in Goring-on-Thames, largely unseen by the outside public, following him falling out of a car in 2013. He’d mostly disappeared from headlines until the news of his death of natural causes at age 53 on Christmas Day 2016.
    George Michael: Freedom
, transports the viewer directly inside his seclusion—but in an odd way. Throughout the documentary, we see the back head of a man presumed to be Michael, in a well-kept brick manse presumed to be his, typing thoughts on a typewriter. The words are spoken by a narrator, also presumed to be him.
At the start of the film, Kate Moss sits in the stereo-pocked chair from the “Fastlove” video and announces that
    Freedom
(the documentary) is Michael’s final work. He’d been putting the finishing touches on it in the days before his death. This, too, heightens the mystery surrounding the project: Michael apparently wanted fans to tour his life, but also wanted to keep his latter-day self at a distance. Such coyness is a complication—but not contradiction—of the portrait that emerges of Michael as the architect of his destiny and the controller of his narrative.
When the credits roll to the sound of Chris Martin covering “A Different Corner,” at the end of the list of the film’s celebrity contributors—including Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, Mary J. Blige, Ricky Gervais, Cindy Crawford, and the other four supermodels of his “Freedom! ’90” video—there’s a surprising entry: “Simon Rutter as George Michael.” An actor, it turns out, plays the elder Michael throughout this slick and tantalizingly unrevealing biography of a pop great. (the voiceover, at least, is from Michael himself.)
Documentary covering the span of his career, but concentrating on the formative period in the late Grammy Award winner's life, leading up to and following the making of his acclaimed album 'Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1' and the subsequent High Court battle with his record label that followed, while also becoming poignantly personal about the death of his late partner and first love, Anselmo Feleppa. Filmed before Michael's untimely passing, the film is narrated by him, who was heavily involved in the making of it.
What I really liked about this documentary was the insight we got, from George himself, into the beautiful lyrics that he wrote and performed, especially after the death of his first real love, Anselmo. George told us what inspired his song writing before and after his meeting with Anselmo and he showed us, with the help of musical clips, how his various emotions manifested themselves through song. His happiness when he met Anselmo, his sadness when Anselmo died and when his mother died of cancer, his anger when Sony refused to let him go and his humour after his unfortunate encounter in a Beverly Hills loo, Ricky Gervais made us laugh with his take on the affair. Elton John seemed to understand George well and perhaps surprisingly, Liam Gallagher too. They, along with a few other celebrities, helped us get to know George better and by the time Chris Martin started to sing "A Different Corner", his tribute to George at the Brit Awards, there were tears in my eyes. I met George Michael many years ago and we all knew he was gay, but most of all it was obvious that he was a very kind person and very vulnerable, which comes across during this fine documentary. You will laugh and probably cry when you watch Freedom, I dare you not too!
